In February, Swiss Gold Letter highlighted the district scale gold, silver and copper discovery potential of Angel Wing Metals (AWM.V). The company had recently consolidated a district (the El Grande project) in the prolific Sierra Madre Occidental gold-silver belt and planned to begin drilling unexplored grounds that have considerable artisanal past producing mines.
Last Thursday, Angel Wing Metals announced the appointment of a new President and CEO, Mr. Marc Prefontaine, a professional geologist with over 30 years of experience.
SGL believes that Mr. Prefontaine is a great addition to AWM's leadership team because he has successful exploration experience in Mexico. In particular, as CEO of Grayd Resources, Mr. Prefontaine discovered the La India deposit in the Mulatos Gold Belt of Sonora. He led a team that advanced this project until it was acquired by Agnico-Eagle Mines for C$275 million in 2011.
Angel Wing Metals also announced that Mr. Cal Everett, the former President and CEO of Liberty Gold, had been named to the Board of Directors. He will serve as Chairman of the Board. In our initial post, Mr. Everett had created significant shareholder value for Liberty Gold, so this addition also bodes well for Angel Wing Metals.
SGL considers that the company's new leadership team is very well-suited to the task of exploring its large land package in Mexico.
SGL suggested in February that Angel Wing Metals provided a reasonable speculation with limited downside risk at around 10 to 12 cents.
